Searching for jobs, or internships?

I just finished my 4th semester. And officially it's vacation now. During the semester, mostly I don't have enough time to think about what I want to do or what I am going to do in the future, but now I have time. So, since yesterday I started thinking about what I gonna do in the next year or especially the next summer. Well, I have to do things on this vacation like make a poster for the poster session at the International Conference though, there is plenty of time still. I fell like I want to gain experiences outside of Japan, like internships for international students? research internships? I am googling and googling now!

TOEFL as a game

For better or worse, Twitter gave me a lot of information about whatever. I just saw a tweet that someone received lots of acceptance of graduate programs of universities in the US. And she went to research internships before applying for those graduate programs by mailing professors directly to get the opportunities. It is a good thing to know this kind of person really exists and took action when I saw her tweets I thought I will do the same thing eventually. And so first off, I applied TOEFL test today. I do not study English as everyone does but I am kind of practicing how to use English every day, like reading books on Kindle, reading tweets in English, watching videos on YouTube, so I believe I can get a certain level of a score in TOEFL without much effort in it. Of course, I paid a lot of money to the TOEFL administration, I'll study for the TOEFL test, but I know I don't like this kind of exam so yeah, how do I do this... wow I just noticed that literally writing this also help me learn English. I am practicing now!

Taking notes (diary?) on the iPad

Recently I've been taking a personal note on my iPad, using an app called GoodNotes. Why do I do that? My colleague at my part-time job has been writing his thoughts and knowledge that he studied in his A4 note since he graduated from college, and he has been keeping that habit for more than 2 years. When I saw that note for the first time, I surprised how beautiful his note was, and it looked really useful for an actual work because it contained valuable information about the project that he was working on and I could grasp what is the problem and what he has been doing lately. It was a well-written document. So I started the same thing. Well, I am writing a note in an electronic way. But it doesn't matter. Maybe it is matters because paper notes are sometimes better at collecting information. You can grasp what's going on by seeing the entire page at once, whereas it is sometimes difficult to see the entire page on the iPad. But, you don't know it until you do. So I am going to do it not on paper notes, but on the iPad.

Watched "Joker" and "Parasite"

By By The The Way Way, I watched "Parasite" and "Joker" on the same day two days ago. I watched "Parasite" first. Honestly, I think it was a great movie but it was a bit difficult for me to understand. "Joker" was easy to understand for me though. I think these two treat similar problems of our society, but "Parasite" reveals it indirectly, whereas "Joker" provided it more directly. The messages "Joker" presented were straightforward. "Parasite" delivered it the more complicated way. But both movies were so good, and both of them received Academy awards, so I am happy with that. Congratulations Joaquin Phoenix and Bong Joon-ho!
